Director of Youth Programs, Group & Private Coach

Chris has been dabbling in fitness and Martial arts for 15+ years, starting with Taekwondo and Fitness Kickboxing, then Kettlebells and Strength Training, until finally finding CrossFit several years ago.

Challenging himself physically and mentally has become an outlet for Chris to balance out his busy lifestyle, making him a better dad, husband, manager, coach and athlete. His goal is to make CrossFit part of the next chapter of his life getting him out from behind the desk and in front of people where he can make more of a difference in their lives.

Chris’ passion for fitness drove him to become a personal trainer so he could help others improve their life through movement and wellness. Coaching group classes for the last 6 years has enabled him to expand his reach beyond 1 on 1 sessions and help more people reach their full potential. One of the things that brings him an immense amount of satisfaction is taking a client that has never touched a barbell or kettlebell (may even be a little scared) to becoming comfortable, proficient, and stronger than they ever imagined.

On his quest to find a CrossFit gym to take his training and career to the next level and be part of a tribe of like-minded, strong, passionate individuals, he found CrossFit Defy. He looks forward to continuing his growth as a coach and being part of the amazing community that Darren and Michelle have built.

A lifelong health and fitness enthusiast, Stéphane has always believed in being physically active, eating well, and taking care of his health.

After many years trying different types of workouts, he discovered CrossFit and never looked back. What really drew him to CrossFit is the constantly varied workouts, the multitude of skills to develop, and the sense of community and camaraderie that inevitably forms between members. As someone who consistently likes to learn new things, Stéphane loves the fact that one’s journey in CrossFit never ends, as there is always a skill to further develop or a lift to become more proficient at.

An avid reader, he also strives to always keep learning about health and fitness in general, and to further expand his knowledge base. As such, he is looking forward to attending the Power Monkey Fitness Camp this fall, where he will get the opportunity to train with and learn from some of the best, world-class trainers in the fitness world. Wilson found a passion for health and fitness while playing sports growing up and was introduced to the gym at a very early age.

He came across his first CrossFit class at 14 years old, and since then has been learning and putting into action the training methodologies encompassed in this, and other styles of training. After spending years putting a priority on his own personal health and fitness, and seeing how deeply and positively this pursuit has benefitted his life in all areas, Wilson started convincing his friends to join him for workouts. This slowly shifted into personal and small group training where he found a passion for being able to share useful information with others, and help them get fitter and stronger inside the gym and out.

Wilson is currently an undergraduate student at Queens University studying Commerce. He plans to use this business background to help him start a company in the fitness industry when he is finished school, so he can continue pursuing his passion of learning and helping others better themselves.
